The Pastoral System at Sir Roger Manwood’s School

Students in Key Stage 3 (Years 7 to 9) are placed in one of five tutor groups, with each tutor group normally consisting of between 30 and 32 students.

An extra tutor group is created in Key Stage 4 (Years 10 and 11), so that each form has around 24 to 26 students in it.

The number of tutor groups in Key Stage 5 (Years 12 and 13) varies between five and six, depending on the number of students in the year group.

Each Key Stage has a dedicated Head, Deputy Head and Key Stage Pastoral Manager.

The Lower School team oversees students as they progress from Year 7 to Year 9; the Upper School team oversees students while in Years 10 and 11; and the Sixth Form team oversees Y12 and Y13.

Alongside the pastoral staff, we also have an excellent Learning Support Team. This is led by Mrs Hurst who is the Assistant Headteacher whose remit is the development and wellbeing of students. The Learning Support Team consists of an Additional Needs Manager and 3 other Learning Support Assistants, and they are based in the Support Room.

The School employs a fully qualified counsellor for two days a week.
