Year 10

Pupils cover a range of topics over the course of 2 years (Year 10 and Year 11) to allow them to compete either the OCR Gateway Combined Science GCSE or OCR Gateway Triple Award Chemistry GCSE. The text book currently used (ISBN:  978-0-19-835982-1) can be accessed online by pupils via their Kerboodle login (each pupil is given a login by the school). Usually each GCSE class is taught by the same teacher (where possible) over the course of the 2 years to allow continuity.

Topics covered are as follows:

C1.2 – Atomic Structure

C2.1 – Purity and Separating Mixtures

C2.2 -  Bonding

C2.3 – Properties of Materials

C3.1 – Introducing Chemical Reactions

C3.2 – Energetics

C3.3 – Types of Chemical Reactions

C3.4 – Electrolysis

C6.1 – Improving Processes and Products

Year 11

Pupils cover a range of topics over the course of 2 years (Year 10 and Year 11) to allow them to compete either the OCR Gateway Combined Science GCSE or OCR Gateway Triple Award Chemistry GCSE. The text book currently used (ISBN:  978-0-19-835982-1) can be accessed online by pupils via their Kerboodle login (each pupil is given a login by the school).
