Under the Academies Act 2010 the School converted to academy status on 1 March 2011 and exists legally as a company called Sir Roger Manwood’s School (registered in England and Wales, number 307843) that has exempt charitable status. The decision to convert from a maintained school with foundation status to an academy was taken after careful consideration by the governing body at the time and followed consultation with all stakeholders including, parents, employees, students, alumni, and local residents.
